Grandconsult Engineers and Planner Ltd (Grandconsult) is a Registered Consulting engineering firm established in Tanzania on January 2022 under Engineering Registration Act, 1977 with ERB Registration Number 240 in the field of Civil /Transportation Engineering. We offer Strategic Project Planning, Feasibility Studies, Design, Construction Project Supervision and Management, Sustainability Consulting, and Project-Scope Definition and Development. We are able to develop solutions for engineering issues critical to the success of every project for which the Practice is commissioned. We have executed projects of excellent value and professional acclaim in Africa.

Our client base spans from public sector through Ministries, Local Government Authorities and Parastatals where we have a productive working relationship with TANROADS, TRC and TARURA for a long time. We also have a growing workload with local and international private investors, Contractors, NGOs, multilateral donors such as the World Bank, AfDB and the EU and private companies within the extractive industry sector including Mining companies.

Our Engineers are registered with relevant Tanzania Engineering bodies such as ERB and NEMC as Professional Engineers, Consulting Engineers and Environmental Experts.

Our Experience

Grandconsult team members have been involved in a number of railway projects in Tanzania while working with COWI. Most recent ones include

  • Field Investigation, Feasibility study, detail design and preparation of Tender Document for New Standard Gauge Railway from tanga to Arusha.
  • Field Investigation, Feasibility study, detail design and preparation of Tender Document for New Standard Gauge Railway from Isaka Mwanza.
  • Field Investigation, Feasibility study, detail design and preparation of Tender Document for New Standard Gauge Railway from Tabora – Kigoma and Kaliua Mpanda. This project was later changed to Design and Build where part of Grandconsult members which were working with COWI at that time were involved heavily involved in preparation of Employer’s requirement
  • Field Investigation and detail design for Dar es Salaam Morogoro SGR for Contractor Yapi Markezi. The Works involve the Design and Build of the earthworks, drainage, structures (i.e., bridges, culverts, crossings), passenger stations (6 stations), freight yards (4 yards), marshalling yards and workshop (at 1 location), permanent way, traction power supply, catenary, signalling & telecommunications. These elements require an integrated design that caters for the internal and external interfaces.

Direct Involvement of Grandconsult team member includes topographical survey, soils, materials investigations, Hydrological analysis and sizing of drainage structures. All road crossings and service roads, Access to stations and Marshalling Yard.
